SING FOR THE CURE
Suite Paws sponsored the Triangle Premier of "Sing for the Cure," which honors those who have been affected by breast cancer. Let's all help stamp out this terrible disease! Breaking News: Tom may have the cure! Based on his singing, no disease could have survived!!!
CANINE INFLUENZA
We continue to follow the news on Canine Influenza and its spread. We have not seen it locally yet, closest reports are from Virginia, but it is an extremely fast spreading, airborne virus, which causes severe bordatella type symptoms, and even death in up to 8% of cases. Much like the human swine flu from a few years ago, the carrier may be symptom free! General symptoms are lethargy, low or high fever, cough (up to 3-4 weeks), nasal discharge, increased respiratory rate, and other pneumonia-like signs. The good news is that there is a vaccine. Bad news is that few vets carry it. When we feel it has become a risk for our boarding dogs, we will start requiring it. The initial dose is given over 2-4 weeks, then once annually. We encourage you to discuss canine influenza virus with your vet, especially if you have greyhounds, which were the first breed to be infected. It apparently crossed over from horses!
MDA FUNDRAISER

Tom will once again be "Going to Jail" for the Annual MDA Lockup Fundraiser in honor of his Notre Dame teammate, Pete Duranko, who recently lost his 11 year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Pete will be missed! Jail date is August 18th and my bail this year is $3500.00! If you can help me get out of jail, please go to
Tom's MDA's Most Wanted Citizen Page! or see our donation box in the lobby. Thank you.

GROOMING DOG OF THE MONTH
Meet Sadie Hughes, the Suite Paws Groom Star for the month of June. Sadie came in for a Deluxe Bath and was pampered with a pedicure, a brush out, an ear cleaning, a sanitary shave a hot bath and a blow dry. During the session, Sadie was a princess and totally enjoyed the royal treatment. She was a pleasure to groom. Way to go Sadie!
BEAT THE HEAT

Summer is here and that means summer cuts and shavedowns! Dogs love to cut off all that winter hair. It gets rid of all that undercoat, stops the shedding, and lets them lay in the sun and work on their tan... well, maybe not, but if you have a dog that loves the water and the pool, then a shavedown makes life easier for everyone. Make an appointment today and beat the summer heat.
Remember, Suite Paws offers the full array of grooming services and be sure to check into our new Suite Suds Bathing Club. For a monthly fee, your dog can be bathed as often as needed to keep Fido clean and fluffy during the summer heat.
